Ruth Weisler dies at 90; funeral tomorrow

RUTH ROSEN WEISLER, a housewife and mother, died yesterday, Wednesday, October 2014. She was 90.

At the time of her death, she was a resident of Lambeth House. A lifetime member of Greater New Orleans Chapter of Hadassah and a member of the New Orleans Section of the National Council of Jewish Women, Weisler was a longtime member of Touro Synagogue.

She was very involved in community arts, especially the Friends of Music and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (formerly the New Orleans Symphony Orchestra).

Weisler was pre-deceased by her husband, Morris Jacob Weisler, M.D. and her son David Weisler. She is survived by her children Sharon Weisler Leader and Faye Leslie Weisler, brothers Harold and Benjamin Rosen and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24 at 10:30 a.m. in the Forgotson Chapel with Rabbi Alexis Berk officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 p.m.  Interment will follow immediately in Hebrew Rest Cemetery # 3, Pelopidas at Frenchmen Streets.
