Retired nurse Rosemary Davis Katz Fortmayer funeral held June 17

ROSEMARY DAVIS KATZ FORTMAYER, a registered nurse and mother, passed away on Wed., June 15, 2016.  She was 77 years.

She is survived by “The Katz Boys”: Barry, Jeff (Jane), Mark (Tricia), and Bruce Katz (Karen); her sister Marlene Sherman (Al) and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Fortmayer.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, she moved to New Orleans in 1957.  She graduated with honors from Charity Hospital School of Nursing, and worked for decades as a registered nurse.

Fortmayer doted on her children and grandchildren and came to love New Orleans culture, especially Mardi Gras and enjoyed following her favorite sports teams the Saints and LSU.

A memorial service at Temple Sinai was held on Fri., June 17, at 11:30 a.m.  Rabbi Ed Paul Cohn officiated. Interment was private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested in her name to Jewish Family Service of Greater New Orleans, 3300 W. Esplanade Ave., No. 603, Metairie, LA. 70002
