Chabad and Uptown JCC host Chanukah community events

The Chabad at the Riverwalk annual Chanukah lighting ceremony sponsored by Chabad-Lubavitch of Louisiana will take place this evening, Sun., Dec. 14, beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Spanish Plaza.

The traditional event will be even more chilly than anticipated due to the arrival of a cold front that will have temperatures plummeting to near freezing overnight on the South Shore and a hard freeze on the North Shore.

The Uptown Jewish Community Center is hosting its community celebration with the Miami Boys Choir tomorow night beginning at 5:30 p.m. . That event will feature free latkes with traditional dressings of apple sauce, chocolate coins (“gelt”) and dreidels. That event is sold old.

The Chabad of Suburban New Orleans will hold its community event on Wed., Dec. 17, at Lakeside Shopping Center, 3301 Veterans Blvd. The event gets underway at 5 p.m. with the community lighting of the large Chanukiah slated to take place at 5:45 p.m.
