Gayle Manheim Cohen is buried on Sun., Jan. 4

GAYLE MANHEIM COHEN, a longtime member of the New Orleans Jewish community,  passed away peacefully at her home on January 2, 2026.  She was 86.

A native New Orleanian, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jacob Joseph Cohen. She is survived by her three children: Jonathan M.S. Cohen (Jeanne), Nan Cohen MacMaster (Dan) and Joby J. Cohen (Darlene); three grandsons and four great-grandchildren.

“Dink,” as she was nicknamed, will also be missed by  the many friends she made throughout the years, while playing tennis or mahjong, or traveling with “the girls.”

A graveside service was held on Sunday, January 4, 2026  at 1:00 p.m. at Ahavas Sholem Cemetery. Shir Chadash Conservation Congreation Rabbi David Cohen-Henriquez officiated with arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home. Expressions of love and sympathy may be placed and viewed at www.tharpcares.com.
