Helen Levkowicz, Holocaust survivor, dies at 84

HELEN CHAJA LEVKOWICZ, a Holocaust survivor who lived a quiet life in New Orleans as a homemaker and mother, died Monday, April 19. Levkowicz, 84, had been a resident in recent years at Poydras Home.

A native of Krakow, Poland, she was the wife of the late Joseph M. Levkowicz. She is survived by sons Sam Levkowicz ( Diane Cali) and Harold Levkowicz (Barbara Gordon), four grandchildren and one step-granddaughter.

Private family graveside services was conducted by Rabbi Ed Paul Cohn with interment in Hebrew Rest Cemetery No. 3 on Friday, August 23. Memorials are suggested to Temple Sinai, 6227 St. Charles Ave., N.O., LA 70118. Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be expressed online here.
